Lucky Duct

Today we experienced some serendipity in the 2nd floor bathroom. Our plumbers discovered an abandoned duct running from the floor in the bathroom all the way down to the basement. Not only does this provide a quick and (relatively) easy way to upgrade our hot and cold water lines to the shower from 1/2” to 3/4” pipe, but it also allows us to relocate the steam unit for the shower in the basement instead of the attic. It will be easier to service the equipment in the basement, there is no need to run a condensation line from the attic to the basement, there is less wiring for our electricians, and any leaks from the steam unit will do less damage to the house if confined to the basement.

In other news, Paul and Mike began framing the openings for the attic skylights.
